I am a fully qualified and practising English teacher. I have a first class degree in English Literature from Durham University, over 14 years of experience in one to one tutoring and have tutored pupils from KS3 to Common Entrance, GCSE and A-level success.

I am both friendly and approachable, and am committed to building the confidence of all those I teach, nurturing enthusiasm and a fresh love of the subject through more creative approaches to work. I plan sessions carefully according to the student`s needs, with a close focus on the requirements of the exam. I am able to support both language and literature including knowledge and understanding of set texts, technical accuracy, exam technique, creative and transactional writing, and fiction and non-fiction reading. I am also ready to support with background work on coursework if this is proving a problem.

I have always been judged a consistently Outstanding/Excellent teacher both in Ofsted/ISI inspections and internal performance management. I have an excellent track record of exam results, and am a busy member of St George’s College English department. If you are interested, please do get in touch!

Availability: Evenings (after school). Weekend mornings only.

Experience: I have been a teacher of English for over 14 years and worked as Head of Department for 5 of those years. I currently work as a member of St George’s College English Department. I have tutored numerous students in the past to great success and am happy to offer support to students from Year 5 to Year 13.
