## Information about James

A current Oxford University Engineering undergraduate with a passion for teaching Mathematics and Science. I combine years of experience as a tutor and teacher with patience and academic excellence to provide tailor-made lessons for students that help them to improve their understanding. I excel at helping students to break down ideas into simple concepts that they can easily understand in a manner that is then applicable for students going forward.

**Availability: **Available until the start of October.

**Willing to travel: **10 miles

**Experience: **During my time as an undergraduate, I have taught classes in Further Mathematics and Pre-GCSE level Mathematics as well as prepared classes of students for the Oxbridge interview process. The Oxbridge interview clases were conducted in the manner of Oxford tutorials where students were asked complex questions with advice given throughout to break down the question and guide them.

I have years of experience as a Maths and Science tutor at the Royal Grammar School, High Wycombe whilst I was a student. Where I provided one-on-one tutoring for struggling students and helped students across the ability spectrum to succeed at Maths GCSE. To achieve this I compiled progress reports for each student in order to monitor their performance and better tailor my tutoring to make sure that time could be spent effectively and their understanding would improve from lesson to lesson.

During my sixth form years I initiated drop-in sessions for younger students at boarding to help them with homework.

Prepared a student for the Oxford entrance examination, the Physical Aptitude Test. Prepared solutions to tailor made papers that focused on areas of improvement to ensure that the student was strong all around.

Oxford University:

Achieved a 2:1 overall in second year public examinations with a first in the Mathematics examination.

A-Levels

Achieved an A*A in Mathematics and Further Mathematics respectively as well as a distinction third class in Pre-University Physics.
