Information about Marta
I am a dynamic and passionate Spanish tutor whose main motivation is to help and guide her students through the process of learning a language and encourage them to achieve their goals while enjoying the journey. I use several types of resources to make my lessons enjoyable and dynamic.
Whether you need to reinforce your Spanish in preparation for your GCSE/ A-levels or you are looking to learn Spanish as a hobby or for professional purposes, I always make sure to tailor my resources to the needs of the learner.
Being a language learner myself I understand how frustrating learning a language can be at times but with a positive attitude, practice and good guidance, nothing is too difficult! I believe learning a language is a life-changing skill and that is why I find extremely rewarding to share my knowledge of the Spanish language and culture through teaching.
Availability: I work at a school in the morning and therefore, I am available from 15.30 onwards, depending on location. *Currently due to COVID-19 I am available in the mornings for online lessons.
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: My deep interest in languages and reading led me to study a degree in humanities whose holistic approach allowed me to gain knowledge in linguistics, second-language teaching, literature and history. To extend my training, I completed a Master`s Degree in language teaching in Madrid, which proved to be extremely valuable to understand the theories behind language acquisition and learning. I have been awarded QTS (qualified teacher status) by the Department for Education in the UK.
My position as a language teacher in Spanish schools for three years gave me experience with different age groups, from preparing 16-18 year-old students for their university entrance exams to teaching children languages through games and storytelling.
I am also well familiarised with the English educational system due to my four years of experience assisting in English schools. Specially relevant it is my experience as a Spanish language assistant for two academic years during which I conducted conversation classes with small groups of students in Years 12 and 13, helping them to prepare for their Spanish speaking exam in A-levels. I currently work in a
secondary school in West London as a learning support mentor and I support students with SEN in their Spanish lessons by using different strategies to make the Spanish curriculum accessible for them.
