Information about Jose Manuel
This Spanish award-winning saxophonist made his concerto debut in the UK with Guildford Symphony Orchestra in 2016 and since then he has performed with the London Sinfonietta and London City Orchestras amongst others.
In 2017 Manu won the Royal College of Music Saxophone Competition 2017 and the Guildford Symphony Orchestra Competition for Young Soloists 2017. The same year he was selected to take part in the London Sinfonietta Academy 2017, and was also was invited to join the BrittenPears Young Artists Programme 2018, which will give him the opportunity to play at the Snape Proms under the baton of Marin Alsop in August this year.
This young saxophone player, whose performance was described as 100% colossal and amazing when he appeared on Classic FM, plays regularly in the UK as well as back in his native Spain both as a soloist and with Vario Duo alongside pianist Prajna Indrawati. Manu has been broadcasted on BBC Radio 3s in tune as a BBC introducing artist.
His future performances include concerts at Newbury Festival (UK), St Martin in the Fields (UK), Kings Place (UK), Risor (Norway), Aegean Arts Festival (Crete), The Royal Academy of Arts (UK) and Real Teatro de la Maestranza (Spain) among others.
After finishing a Master in Performance at the Royal College of Music of London, he will continue with the prestigious Artist Diploma Course, studying with Kyle Horch. He is a Drake Calleja Trust Scholar and RCM scholar supported by Dr Michael West. Manu is also a Tillet Trust YAP, Talent-Unlimited and Concordia Foundation Artist.
