Information about Karina

With a Bachelor`s Degree in English and History obtained from the University of Nottingham, I have the skills and knowledge required to deliver tuition of a high calibre. My additional qualifications include an A at Advanced Level English and an A* and A at GCSE English Language and Literature respectively.
In 2018 - 2019, I worked full-time as a Teaching Assistant in an outstanding secondary school, specialising in the subjects of both History and English. This is my fourth year working as a Private Tutor, teaching content and exam skills at all levels, especially at GCSE and A-Level.
For English, I have taught students content from the AQA, Edexcel, OCR and Eduqas exam boards. For History, I have taught students undertaking AQA or Edexcel exams. I am therefore familiar with various exam specifications, assessment objectives, and writing techniques such as PEEL, PEACH and TAP/PAT for both subjects.
I have tutored A-Level Psychology students for 3 years running with great success; all of my previous students are currently studying the subject at university!
Additionally, I have a vast array of voluntary experience with a particular focus on education. For example, last January, I visited orphanages and schools around Dhaka, Bangladesh, where I worked with children in underprivileged locations to oversee their educational programmes.
I acknowledge just how important education is in governing a person`s future decisions and life chances. What is unique about my approach is the amount of passion, care and time I can dedicate to each student. Most importantly, I want them to reach their full potential.
My attitude, along with my methodology, organisational and time management skills ensure that we make the most out of our sessions together. I plan my lessons ahead of time so that my tutees are in good stead to meet their deadlines and/or that they feel confident prior to sitting their exams.
Additionally, between 2013-2014, I acted as a peer mentor to my school, assisting History and Psychology lessons and working on a 1:1 basis with younger students during their lunch and break-times. I am always willing to put the extra work in to boost those around me to success.
Through experience and research, I understand that every individual has a distinct way of learning. With this in mind, my tutoring style is adaptable towards the way(s) in which my students learn best. I am both practical and creative in coming up with ways to help optimise learning.
