Update: April 2019 - an 8yr old student received a commendation at her school assembly for her descri ptive writing and advanced vocabulary. 2019 A previously ungraded student has just achieved Grade 5 in his GCSE Mocks. A previously ungraded student has achieved Grade 7 in his GCSE re-takes.2018 Academic Year achievements to date - 5 GCSE `A`s 1 `B`. A Grammar School student`s grades rose from 80pc to 95pc; his teacher considers his work to be outstanding and of a high calibre. A student whose writing was initially illegible, then won a school handwriting competition. A 6yr old has progressed dramatically and is now assisting 7 & 8yr old pupils in her class. All other students have been commended on their progression at school.

I have been teaching for 11 years now and have two teaching qualifications. I am a friendly, kind, empathetic person with a good sense of humour enabling students to feel relaxed. In my experience if a tutor and student relate well and the student feels comfortable, at ease, and has fun, the learning process is enhanced and more productive.

I believe it is important that targets and goals are discussed and reviewed regularly to discuss progress and achievements so that the student`s self-esteem and self-confidence are boosted. Confidence is `key`. Learning should not be tedious, but a joy. I can `hand on heart` say that all my students look forward to their lessons.

I treat each student as an individual; I tailor and adapt tutoring to suit using appropriate learning styles and personality appropriateness.

Having studied Linguistics at university during my degree and later qualifying to teach English as a Foreign Language which I have utilised in the UK and abroad I consider this a speciality alongside English language and Literature.
