Information about Alice
I am a qualified science teacher and have been teaching for over fifteen years. I am aware of the current requirements for all exam boards at GCSE. I love teaching science as it is an exciting subject and so relevant beyond the classroom. I can also teach maths and specialise in helping pupils gain the Grades 4 or 5 they need to progress.
Tutoring strategies are tailored to each pupil. If working towards a specific exam I go over the more difficult concepts and help the student to apply their knowledge to questions using past papers and other resources. In this way content is revised while practicing questions. The key is to understand and enjoy the subject and this can be conveyed using many different teaching strategies. In maths I concentrate on mastering the basics before moving on to more complex topics.
Availability: Weekday mornings/afternoon. After school times I currently have are at 4.30pm Monday for online tuition or in person if very local. Due to long travel times in this area I can only do face to face teaching if you live within 2 miles of my location.
Willing to travel: 2 miles
Experience: I currently tutor GCSE and IGCSE in all three science subjects and maths to individuals, small groups and home schooled pupils. I have experience in teaching both large and small classes in schools and have taught all science topics from school years 4 to 11. I can also tutor Maths up to Key stage 3 and GCSE level. I have extensive experience of working with SEN pupils having worked in a hospital school and working with pupils who are waiting to be placed in a special school. I have experience with ASD pupils, SEMH pupils and working with those that have an EHCP.
