Information about Maxine

Hello!

I am a friendly and approachable tutor who loves working with children. I am patient and empathetic, and I wish to help students achieve their full potential. I‘m currently working in clinical research within the NHS.

I graduated last year with a 2:1 in BSc Biomedical Sciences (Hons) whilst being the course representative, student ambassador for my course and an avid volunteer. I also competed on my university badminton team (Women’s 1st and Mixed), our women’s team won 1st in the leagues in 2018-2019. My colourful experiences and wide range of knowledge in the biosciences, general life and the university application process (from the perspective of a student and from the university admin side) will be very useful to any interested student. I would love to inspire and help the next generation not just academically but also in the soft skills that are adaptable to any situation and will help them be set for life.

I speak with a formal British English accent and I hope I can positively influence any young budding student. Please do not hesitate to contact me for any questions, I will do my best to get back to you asap.

Note: I have an enhanced DBS check back when I used to regularly volunteer in 2018/2019 (this has now expired). I currently hold a basic DBS check (E0932898320) which you can check and verify online.

Availability: Flexible. Usually weekdays afternoons and evenings, most weekends I’m available all day.

Willing to travel: 2 miles

Experience: I tutored a year 4 student who did not speak English as their first language and helped them not only catch up but also get ahead of his peers at school.

I love contributing to our society and regularly volunteers to help our local community. In one experience last year, I supported children and young adults with learning disabilities in fun holiday projects for Kith and Kids charity. I enjoyed getting to know them and teach them appropriate social skills. Prior to my work as a support worker, I underwent 3 training workshops and acquired an enhanced DBS check.

DBS Check: Yes
