Information about Madeleine

I am currently finishing my Fine Art with History of Art undergraduate degree from the [contact detail removed]. I am looking to tutor students in primary and secondary school to help them achieve their goals, whether that be to aid them in getting top band grades or help them catch up with their classmates. In my GCSEs, I attained an A and A* in English Language and English Literature respectively, and an A* in English Literature at A level. My writing is to degree level standard as I have had to write critical essays for the History of Art aspect of my degree. I am also an avid reader in my spare time.

I have dyslexia and see this as an asset to my tutoring skills as it has given me the understanding that what works for one person may not work for another. This is one of the reasons tutoring can be so helpful as it is tailored to what works best for one person. My dyslexia also means that I know how it feels to fall behind in school and what this can do to ones confidence - this has given me a lot of patience. Despite my struggles in school I persevered and by discovering how I learnt best, in the end, I excelled gaining 10 A*-B grades at GCSE and A* A A in English Literature, Art and Geography respectively.

I think confidence is key when it comes to tackling English language and literature exams, therefore exam technique will be ‘drilled in`! This is so my pupils will know what the examiner is looking for, allowing them to write with assured ease under time pressure, confident in their knowledge and skill set.

Willing to travel: 2 miles

Experience: I have previously tutored my younger cousin who has severe dyslexia. Seeing him gain confidence throughout our time together was extremely fulfilling - a stand out moment is when he grasped the ability to tell the time after a eureka moment with me when it all ‘clicked’ after him not being able to grasp it at school.

I have a friendly, quietly confident disposition and will make a dedicated tutor. Looking forward to working with you/ your child!
