- Classics teacher (PGCE + QTS) interested in secondary school teaching, education reform, the importance of knowledge in the curriculum, pedagogy and philosophy. Supporter of a knowledge-rich curriculum combined with constructivist theories. Keen in creating a positive classroom environment where students feel free to actively participate and to critically question their environment.
- Specialisation in Assessment for Learning (achieved through PGCE assignment)
- Thorough knowledge of the Classical world with particular focus and specialisation in Art, Literature and Ancient History modules.
- 2 full years of freelance teaching experience (80+ hours) across age ranges of students (adult, sixth-form and university).
- Training in public speaking, teaching and presentation skills.
- Training in delivering online lessons with Microsoft Teams and OneNote
- Certificates: Safeguarding Young People; Prevent; Online Safety Alliance
- Key interest in students` mental health wellbeing.
- Fluency in speaking and writing three European languages (English, French and Italian). Advanced knowledge of Latin. Basic knowledge of Spanish, German and Ancient Greek. Strong grammar knowledge.

Availability: Monday to Friday: 9am to 8pm (last lesson starting at 7)
Saturday: 10 am to 4 pm (last lesson starting at 3)

Experience: MY APPROACH:
My teaching approach strives to create a warm and welcoming environment and a culture of ‘trial and error’, where my students are encouraged to actively participate in their learning and to learn from their mistakes. This empowers them to develop greater self-confidence and independence of thought. I plan lessons which stimulate students’ curiosity and introduce activities which regularly check for student understanding, such as quick-fire vocabulary tests and ‘hot seat’ retrieval tasks. Moreover, I ensure that a coherent sequence of learning is in place, using appropriate mid- and long-term planning skills. I also adopt a multidisciplinary approach, as I believe that creating broader connections is pivotal for a student’s academic and human development.

You will tell me what you need first of all, why you are here and what you would like to cover together. Afterwards, I would like you to tell me what works best for you - that is, how you usually study, how you memorise things, how you have fun in learning, etc. My first rule is listening to you and to your needs, and to what you would like to get out from our meetings. Setting out aims first of all!

Based on this first information, I will tell you what I can offer to you. If you agree, I will draft a plan to follow and see if that works for you. Of course, if it does not, do not hesitate to tell me! The most important thing is that you are feeling comfortable, and that you feel you are achieving your goals - and, most importantly, that you are enjoying yourself!

N.B.: The national lockdown has given me the opportunity to train in online teaching by using and exploring platforms such as Microsoft Teams and OneNote. I am thus equipped to provide you the best learning experience online on Tutorful.
