Information about Oliver
Hi,
I have a doctorate and first class bachelors degree in Mathematics, and more than one thousand three hundred hours of tutoring hours at this point! I provide mathematics support for all ages, and English and Spanish up to the end of Key Stage 3.
The centre of my catchment circle is the village of Pontyates in Carmarthenshire. My prices are standard, although there may be travel costs for significant journeys to students.
I also have good written Spanish grammar and translation skills so anyone seeking such support is more than welcome to ask. My tutoring includes Beginner Spanish, and English up to Key Stage 3. Language tuition is bolstered both by past study toward a BA in Language Studies with the Open University, focussing on English and Spanish, but with some French content too.
The obligatory enhanced DBS disclosure has been obtained and kept up to date by registration with the DBS Update Service.
Availability: Currently generally available weekdays, weekends and evenings.
I`m currently working on online availability, which will be very experimental to begin.
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: My tutoring is built on:
1) Five years of tutoring Mathematics at Key Stage 2, Key Stage 3, GCSE, A Level, and undergraduate levels, and English at Key Stage 3.
2) An academic year spent lecturing at Aberystwyth University, providing modules `Mathematics for Economists I` and `Statistics for Economists`. (Includes workshops in R).
3) Problems classes and workshops during my PhD studies in Nottingham.
4) A desire to teach more in the future, and develop my skills wherever possible to do the best for my students. For example, I have been pursuing a degree in Language Studies from the Open University, to augment my English, Spanish and French skills.
5) The articulacy and thorough literacy required to write a doctoral thesis.
6) A desire to have fun while showing that mathematics is more than just boring number crunching, it`s a way of life!

Oliver has been excellent. My daughter had lost confidence in her ability With A Level Maths during lockdown. After a couple of lessons with Oliver she is a lot more confident in her work and looking forward to her online tuition. Thanks Oliver

Oliver did an amazing job giving my son Maths Tuition! According to the school my son was not likely to get above a D grade, but with only a few months lessons with Oliver, my son`s confidence and understanding of Maths took off, and has learnt today that he has pass & achieved a GCSE `C` grade! Amazing tutor, lovely person! Thank You Oliver!

We have been very pleased with Oliver. He has a relaxed style which encourages our daughter to learn in an environment which she is comfortable with. As a consequence we have noticed a marked improvement in her attitude toward her studies. We would highly recommend Oliver to other parents.
