James

James is a dynamic and adaptive tutor who believes in the exceptional potential of all students. He helps students unlock their full capacity by providing a tailored service, with close adherence to the curriculum and by instilling a wider passion for the subject. This has led to exceptional results: every student he has worked with has exceeded their predicted grades, or has had these adjusted upwards on non-exam years.

As someone with academic and professional expertise in a range of subjects, James can help students master skills which will help them across their studies, and which are highly transferrable to professional environments.

James read History (BA Hons), at the University of Southampton, achieving a First-Class in his Dissertation and an Upper-Second overall. During his undergraduate degree, he won a Santander exchange scholarship to the University of Sydney, where he read English and Australian Literature, Ancient History, and Philosophy. He has recently completed a Masters in Politics, Philosophy and Economics (PPE), at Birkbeck, University of London. He will graduate this year with a Distinction (First-Class) MSc.

Professionally, alongside teaching, he has worked in social and economic research, and in the media.
