Information about Laura
I`m a final year student doctor, passionate about education and enthusiastic to guide young people to achieving their potential.
I`m a great believer in the saying "if you`re not having fun, you`re not learning" and truly believe anyone can achieve anything if they put their mind to it! I utilise fun and interactive methods of learning and incorporate mnemonics, visual illustrations and auditory stimuli to enhance and consolidate learning. I`m confident in my ability to work with students to identify their areas of weakness and to build upon their strengths to drive them to success.
I achieved 12 A* grade GSCEs and A.A grades in Biology, Chemistry, Maths, General Studies, Psychology and Extended Project at AS/A level.
I am a competent and experienced tutor in the following:
- Biology (up to A Level Grade)
- Maths (up to GSCE Grade)
- Chemistry (up to GCSE)
- Physics (up to GCSE)
- Geography (up to GCSE)
- English Language & English Literature (up to GCSE)
- Medicine (undergraduate MBChB)
I`m very approachable, down to Earth and reliable. Please feel free to contact me if you would like to discuss how I might be able to assist you in achieving your academic potential (or if you`d simply like a little inspiration to keep plodding on through the difficult time of assessments!)
Availability: I am available most evenings and weekends.
Willing to travel: 20 miles
Experience: I have tutored since leaving high school in 2010. I worked for a Bolton based tuition centre where I had a temporary role during my summer holidays as centre manager. This experience exposed me to the styles and requirements of different examination boards and also developed my appreciation of the dynamic diversity of learning strategies available to enhance the learning experience.
I deliver lectures to undergraduate students (both medical and non-medical), therefore in addition to tutoring on a one-to-one basis I also have experience teaching large groups of people.
As a Senior Mentor on the National Citizen Service (NCS) programme I have been exposed, in a residential setting, to the social and personal challenges that students of GCSE/A level might face outside of the classroom. I believe this makes me an understanding and empathetic tutor.
