Hi! My name is Ben and I am 27. I studied Politics, Philosophy and Economics at the University of Manchester. I obtained a First Class Degree and won the Dean`s Award for Academic Achievement. I also gained an A in GCSE maths and an A* at A-level.
After university, I secured work experience at Magic Circle and White Shoe (top US) law firms in the UK. Since then, I built a career in the music industry which has been my main occupation over the passed four years. More recently, however, I have returned to the legal profession, and secured a Training Contract at an Elite US law firm—a very competitive process, with only 30 out of over 3000 applicants being successful.
I am also passionate about younger people realising their full potential as I didn`t find my academic career easy. As such, I really enjoy the `mentoring` aspect of tutoring and would find taking students from the start (year 9) through to their exams (year 11) particularly satisfying.
I am on emails regularly and can promise to respond promptly and am also open to tutoring online if you would prefer.

Experience: During my degree, I tutored other students across all my disciplines (Politics, Philosophy and Economics), both in younger years and my own.
I have tutored higher GCSE and IGCSE Mathematics as well as Foundation GCSE Mathematics which has given me insight into the different ways students learn new information.
I also taught younger students aged 12-14 in drums and guitar.
I am also coaching university students and career changers through the law firm application process.

Ben took on the task of helping my daughter, aged 14, in Year 9 with her end of year exams with the first lesson 12 May 2024. The two exams in Maths were on 7 June and 11 June 2024 so this left less than a month. Although end of topic tests throughout the year had been mostly good in Year 8, my daughter had got 50% in the Year 8 end of year exams. Ben`s brief was to try to ensure a better result. Ben approached this logically with questions for her to try before the lesson to target the weaker areas. Ben was extremely flexible and suggested increasing the length and frequency of the sessions as there was so little time to cover all the ground. My daughter had a great rapport with Ben which encouraged her further. Her results were 72% and 90%, so an average of 81%. This was an incredible improvement which was down to Ben`s methods and manner and my daughter`s hard work using her new found understanding. In order to ensure that she maintains this improvement, she has asked to continue with Ben. I cannot praise him highly enough.
