Information about Anthony
NO AVAILABILITY CURRENTLY, sorry.
I have 5 years experience in education, 1 year + as a tutor, and last taught in an inner city school in Tottenham, London until December 2020. We taught in mixed ability classes rather than ability sets, where I supported students of all abilities within the same classroom, quickly adapting my approach to the level of each student. I am highly flexible in teaching as students learn best.
I ensure students celebrate the skills they are already confident with. Together we consolidate foundational skills, and build on their skills with a logical and secure upwards progression. We revisit skills at intervals to cement them in students` minds. For those that need it, I give regular practice in the core skills of addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, which can sometimes be overlooked in secondary, as well as finding factors, multiples, and number bonds to 90, 180, 270, 360 (for angle questions).
Maths is an essential skill not only for the world of work, but also for many aspects of our personal lives, and I ensure my students understand the value of Maths skills, so that they know what they are working towards. Learning Maths develops resilience and confidence in particular the satisfaction of knowing you are completely and indisputably right, which they get in few other subjects.
As the eldest of six, I have years of experience working with children, not only in education but also at youth centres, holiday camps and mid-week clubs, including abroad. My experience in education includes special needs schools (primary and secondary), as well as alternative provision (primary and secondary). My genuine, straightforward manner and way of clearly showing that I care about them and their success means I quickly get on with students and can encourage them effectively in their learning.
I speak a number of languages and can offer bilingual Maths tuition in French, German and Russian. I can offer also more limited bilingual support in Romanian, Bulgarian and Dutch.
I completed my teacher training at King`s College, London, and my NQT year at Park View School, Haringey, London.
My first lesson is not free, but at a reduced rate of £10/hr.
I charge 40p per mile travelled.
