For many years I worked for British Rail, ending up in their International office in London. Then, tired of commuting, I moved to Italy where I spent ten years teaching English as a Foreign Language and translating to and from Italian. Before, during and after that period I worked to develop my writing, and since my return to the UK in 2003, I have completed a First Class Honours Degree (in creative writing and modern languages) and a Masters in Creative and Critical Writing. I continue, when circumstances permit, to teach English as a Foreign Language in summer schools and elsewhere.

Experience: My extensive studies over many years have prepared me to teach English Language and Literature. I have almost 30 years of experience in teaching English as a Foreign Language to students of many nationalities (mainly Italians). I have reached C1 level in Italian, on the Common European Framework for Language Learning and am currently studying for the C2 level (total fluency.) As my major language in my first degree (BA Hons) was French, I am also able to teach that language up to at least GCSE level. I am particularly well prepared to assist students in improving their English writing.
