I enjoy passing on my enthusiasm for English to my students, almost all of whom perform above their expected grades. A positive working relationship with students is the key to building confidence, knowledge and skills for any of the learners I work with.

I have taught students at all ability levels and am able to differentiate for varying levels of need, I have experience working with students who experience a range of barriers including learning needs and social and emotional barriers. All I ask for when I work with students is that they be willing and open to giving their best efforts, whatever that may be for them. Effort equals success and I firmly believe that all students can achieve when the teaching is pitched at a pace and level that allows them to access the work but also provides enough challenge to stretch them beyond their current ability.

Availability: Weekday after school and evenings and Saturday morning.

Experience: Fully qualified teacher currently working in an SEN school.
Literacy lead and Head of English in previous school.
Experience in a range of educational settings such as mainstream comprehensive, teaching at all ability levels and also within alternative provisions and SEN school settings.
Experience teaching sixth form English GCSE resits.
Teaching since 2013, previously taught iGCSE (with coursework element) and currently teach AQA.
Familiar with most exam board requirements for Language and Literature.
Experience teaching Functional Skills and a range of pre-GCSE qualifications in English.
Range of texts taught including all the main texts commonly chosen by schools including: A Christmas Carol, Frankenstein, Lord of the Flies, An Inspector Calls, Blood Brothers, Pigeon English, Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet, The Tempest, Animal Farm, Jekyll and Hyde etc.
