Information about Patricia
I specialise in giving children the confidence they need to succeed. The fast pace of the National Curriculum leaves no time for the child who needs longer to assimilate information, especially if they learn better with more concrete, hands-on practical experience. This lack of confidence is not the fault of the child, but of the system.
I also help children with dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADD, ADHD, deafness (BSL), depression, Downs Syndrome and other disabilities. I use the Orton-Gillingham method, which is a multi-sensory approach that research has shown to be the only way that Dyslexics can succeed.
I teach using my student`s preferred learning style, which could be visual, auditory, or kinesthetic (or more likely a combination of them). With parents permission, I also use tools such as Brain Gym©, EFT tapping and therapeutic essential oils to help my students overcome their learning difficulties. These tools get results regarding confidence, concentration and overcoming blocks to learning.
I also watch carefully for full engagement and when that is waning will switch activities to continue the learning process in a different way. Learning does not take place without enjoyment.
I am patient, kind and cheerful, and my aim is or each student to enjoy their sessions with me while gaining confidence and ability.
Availability: Weekdays and evenings during the day or evening, and also Saturdays. I teach face to face and online.
Willing to travel: 1 miles
Experience: I have 30 years experience teaching all ages of people from age 2 to adults, but mainly the primary years. I have taught in England, USA and Kuwait. In schools and alternative settings such as small family groups and individual tutoring sessions.
I am a qualified teacher of hearing impaired children with a knowledge of BSL.
I have taught English to adult learners in Kuwait and the USA. I have also taught children whose fist language is not English.

We have been using Patricia for just over one month now and we have seen a dramatic improvement to my 7yr old Sons attitude to learning. Patricia has a wonderful way with children, my Son looks forward to his tutoring sessions and really values her teaching. Patricia is very experienced and quickly recognised my sons strengths and weaknesses, he has recognised his own improvements and this has boosted his confidence wonderfully. Thank you so much Patricia!
Tutors Response :
You`re very welcome Kristy.

Tutors Response :
Aw, bless! Thank you, Katie. I also look forward to seeing Alex every week. And, yes we do have fun. Learning does not take place without it, does it?
