MY EDUCATION AND BACKGROUND:

English:
I have an extremely strong academic background, and graduated with distinction from McGill University with a Bachelor of English Literature and a Liberal Arts Honours degree.

I’ve written over 100 analytical essays and studied English Literature broadly and extensively; from Beowulf, to Spencer, Milton and Shakespeare, the Romantic poets, modern poetry, the novel, as well as modern and post modern literature.

My students benefit from my deep experience in analyzing and writing about English Literature (poetry, drama and prose). I assist them in becoming skilled writers and thinkers so as to achieve their academic goals as well as become life long lovers of reading, writing and language.

FRENCH:

I am fluently bilingual in French and English having learned it from a young age. I understand the challenges of taking on a new language very well and I offer my expertise in overcoming these challenges with ease and joy.

I grew up in Montreal, Canada and have been speaking French since the age of four. I was thrown into an all French Kindergarten at that age and then proceeded with French Immersion with International French teachers to earn my Bilingual Certificate from the government of Quebec at the age of 16.

Since then I have acted on stage and on the radio in the language and worked as a professional translator. I’ve also taught French through drama in schools for more than 6 years.

My approach is inspirational and encourages fluency and freedom of expression from the start. My students learn the technical aspects of the language (grammar, spelling, pronunciation, vocabulary) while developing a curiosity for the language and a feeling of joy for the language.

Through lessons with me my students have:

Written short scenes and monologues in French, mastered elements of grammar, increased their vocabulary significantly, developed a love for reading French literature and reached academic benchmarks in the language.

I teach the following levels and ages:

Primary, 11+ Exam, KS2 SATS, KS3, KS4 GCSE & A Level, as well as adults

CREATIVE WRITING

First and foremost, I inspire my creative writing students to access their imagination, and find their voice through practical exercises, writing prompts and more.

Through my guidance, my students also learn to implement effective writing features and avoid poor choices to achieve high marks on their exams.

We practice writing high-quality texts, with original and imaginative descri ptive passages and believable characters. They learn to write well structured pieces with an engaging beginning, a directed story and an imaginative ending.
