I am an enthusiastic and supportive English teacher with five and a half years of classroom experience as a qualified teacher in a North-Leeds secondary.

I specialise in helping students build confidence, develop strong literacy skills, and achieve meaningful progress in both English Language and English Literature. I am patient, reliable and passionate about my subject and committed to helping young people enjoy their learning and fulfil their potential.

Prior to gaining my PGCE, I tutored for four years, covering KS2 through to Undergraduate level. I also worked as both a Teaching Assistant and acting Head Librarian at a secondary school in South Leeds, then as a Teaching Assistant in a Year 6 class in a primary in North Leeds.

I hold a First-Class degree in English Language and Literature, with two academic prizes: one for achieving the best results taken in English Language modules and another for achieving the best final year result out of those in my year on the BA English Literature & Language degree course.

Availability: I am available for tutoring after school on all weekdays except Wednesdays. On Wednesdays, I am available throughout the day, making it ideal for daytime sessions, home-educated students, or flexible learners. I am also open to weekend slots for those who need additional support or prefer non‑;weekday lessons.

Experience: I have worked as an English teacher for five and a half years, teaching years 7 to 13, fostering excellent relationships with my pupils and getting results that I am really proud of.

Throughout my teaching career so far, I have also mentored two trainee teachers and acted as a host teacher for several others, supporting them in developing their classroom practice. This experience has strengthened my ability to break down complex skills, give clear, constructive feedback, and tailor support to individual needs, all of which directly enhance my 1:1 tutoring.

I have worked with a wide range of learners, including those who benefit from targeted support, structured guidance, or stretch and challenge. I take pride in creating a calm, encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, exploring ideas, and taking ownership of their progress.
