Information about Libby
I am a patient and reliable individual with a warm and affable demeanour. I am passionate about my subject and committed to helping young people enjoy their learning and fulfill their potential.
In July 2017 I graduated from the University of Leeds with a First-Class degree in English Literature & Language. I received two University prizes at my graduation, one for achieving the best results taken in English Language modules and another for achieving the best final year result out of those in my year on the BA English Literature & Language degree course.
From September 2017, I worked as both a Teaching Assistant in English and the acting Head Librarian on a 9 month temporary appointment at a Secondary school in South Leeds.
I now work as a Teaching Assistant at a local Primary and tutor part-time.
I am very confident teaching the current English Literature and English Language curricula (KS3, GCSE, A Level and Undergraduate levels).
Availability: SEPTEMBER 2019 UPDATE: I have recently started Teacher Training at University so it is unlikely that I will be able to take on new students for weekly lessons. Please send me a message if you are willing to travel to my home or if you are just looking for a one-off session. Thank you for your understanding.
Please feel free to send me a message if you are seeking lessons during school holidays.
Willing to travel: 1 miles
Experience: For two years prior to my University studies, I provided 1:1 reading support for Primary school pupils.
As part of my last job at a Secondary school in South Leeds, I worked both on a 1:1 basis and in small groups with pupils aged 11-16, assisting them with their work (KS3 through to GCSE) in English Language and English Literature. I also worked as the school`s Primary Coordinator of Accelerated Reader, a scheme devised to develop literacy skills of students in years 7 and 8.
Now working as a Teaching Assistant in a local Primary, I run daily interventions in Reading, Writing, Maths and SPaG for children in Year 4 through to Year 6. My sessions are fully supportive and catered to the needs of each pupil.
I love working with children and young people. It would be my privilege support my students` learning and impart my subject expertise.
