Information about Samuel

My name is Sam, I am a part-time Geography teacher and I live in North London near Hackney Central. I love teaching and think Geography is the most dynamic and interesting subject there is. I have a BA First in Geography and QTS from UCL. I`m 32 and looking to teach privately once or twice a week.

I have taught GCSE and A level for over 5 years and am currently working part-time at a successful private school. I have extensive A level experience having previously worked at an outstanding sixth form.

I have now covered all the A level specifications and can help with all areas of the curriculum. I can also help with advice on NEA`s and intergrating GIS to achieve those higher marks.

I primarily teach online and can either work with students on Google classroom or Microsoft teams - it is easier to give lessons share resources and live mark students answers.

Availability: Weekday evenings

Experience: I have been teaching Geography for five years across North East London. I have taught for three years at a popular large comprehensive school in Hackney where students had a huge variety of educcational needs. I went on to teach at a very academic and succesful sixth form (outstanding) where my students achieved 60% A*-A on results day. Now I teach at an oversubscribed private school across all age brackets.

I like to start with the curriculum provided by the examining body to make sure all the content knowledge is covered. I want to see what opinions the students have and any areas which are particularly interesting to them. This way I can tailor my teaching to the individual child. Developing nuanced opinions and interesting takes on resources is what will get you to higher grades within A level.

Every child learns differently and responds to variety, so I combine many approaches when introducing new content knowledge or offering revision tips. Assessment and mock preparation are essential for progression.

I look forward to hearing from you.
