Information about Alexandra

I hold a masters in Chemistry from the University of Bristol and I completed the highly competitive graduate scheme `Teach First`. I am a fully qualified teacher with lots of experience in teaching Science up to A-level across all main exam boards (AQA, OCR & Edexcel).

I am able to tutor Maths, Physics, Biology and Chemistry up to GCSE level and Chemistry A Level.

I have a strong pedagogical understanding which is integral to my practice and enables my students to make `Outstanding` progress. It is important to note that I place great emphasis on equipping students with exam strategies and also provide exam materials that are relevant to the syllabus being taught. I also integrate strong contextual elements into my sessions which engages students and allows them to realise the real life applications of what is being taught. I continue to develop my pedagogical understanding and aim to maximize each and every students` outcomes by understanding, and catering for their individual needs.

Availability: Week nights and weekends.

Willing to travel: 10 miles

Experience: For seven years, I have offered private tuition in Maths and Science GCSE and Chemistry A Level. I have tutored 10 pupils privately over the past year. I have also worked in a school as part of a Science intervention team tutoring pupils struggling at GCSE.

I used to be a Secondary School Science Teacher at an inner city London school as part of the Teach First programme. I was rated `Outstanding` as a teacher by Ofsted and I have a plethora of experience with the new grading systems and specifications. I am now working as a consultant at Accenture.

Alex helped my daughter prepare for GCSEs in Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Although the exams did not go ahead in the end as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, my daughter`s awarded grades were excellent (8, 8, 7). Although she is certainly academic, my daughter leans very much to the arts and sciences were not her strong point. I should emphasise that my daughter`s school were scrupulous with their awards and were deliberately not over-generous in order not to be downgraded (which was to meet the original criteria for exam awards). On that basis, I could have expected my daughter to achieve the same high grades, had she been able to take the exams. As a tutor, Alex is efficient and she always prioritised the essential learning objectives. She is very articulate, and easily engaged my daughter, with an enthusiastic and friendly manner. I would very highly recommend her.

We have been impressed with Alexandra, in a short time she has given our son confidence in Chemistry we did not think possible. Extremely professional we would highly recommend.
