Hi,
My name is Lauren and I am an experienced Primary School Teacher teaching children aged between 5 and 11 years old. I have experience teaching Maths, English and Science in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, including SATS revision for Year 2 and Year 6. Since I began tutoring, I have also taught Key Stage 3 English and Maths for every year group and have over 2 years experience teaching this Key Stage.

I have a particular strength in teaching Early Reading and Phonics, and achieved very high phonics results whilst teaching in Year 1 for three years. Learning to read is the gateway to so much pleasure and enjoyment and I feel very passionately about helping children through the early stages of their reading journey. Through my teaching experience I am well trained in this stage of reading and different strategies that are most effective for children with different learning styles and abilities. I also have great experience preparing children for their Year 6 SATS in English Reading, Writing and SPAG.

More recently, I have been teaching English as an additional language to children overseas and have been greatly enjoying the experience. I have built a good level of resources and knowledge in this area and will be continuing to do so with many regular students I am working with each week.

I am also a very keen mathematician and love teaching Maths. When studying my PGCE, I specialised in Mathematics and completed modules at a Masters Level in this area. Therefore, I have a strong subject knowledge in teaching Maths at Primary and Secondary age level to all year groups.

I am an enthusiastic teacher who believes any child can grow and learn from individual tutoring that is engaging, relatable, exciting and personal to them. This is why I ensure that my sessions are catered to each child’s needs, interests and abilities so that they make great progress, increase their confidence and enjoy learning.

Availability: During the day, evening and weekends.

Experience: I have taught in Primary Schools for over three years and I am now a 1:1 tutor in my fourth academic year of full time tutoring privately and in schools working for local councils. I also have experience as a 1:1 and class Teaching Assistant.
I have an enhanced DBS certificate and have recently completed Safeguarding training.
