My instruments are piano and violin and I am happy to teach complete beginners as well as those that may be more experienced. I am an ARSM-qualified and grade 8 pianist and grade 8 violinist. I have had extensive performance experience in both instruments having played both for 15 years. I am a recent graduate from the University of Leeds, having completed a BA Music degree. My degree focused on performance, film music and music theory. Whilst studying, I won two performance awards (Toothill Performance Award 2017-18 and The Ernest and Luther Gaunt Music Award 2018-19) for advanced ability and progress in performance.

I specialise in performing and teaching Classical music (including Baroque, Romantic and 20th Century) but have also taught folk tunes as well as pieces for fun (like Harry Potter!)! As well as performance, lessons will cover music theory aspects that are vital for building a strong foundation in playing any instrument. This includes: note-reading, posture, scales & arpeggios, time signatures and more! These will be delivered in an informative but fun way and parents of current students have found that covering these aspects has resulted in a noticeable difference in their child`s understanding and playing.

I advise beginners to start with 1 half hour lesson per week, then, dependent on the student and their level of practise and enjoyment, in the past, I have offered to increase this to 2 half hour lessons per week or 1 one hour lesson per week if the student is older and more able to concentrate for this longer period of time.
