I`m a calm, friendly, supportive tutor with more than 20 years of teaching experience. One of the things I really enjoy about tutoring is the opportunity to tailor sessions to the needs, interests and experiences of the individual. I listen carefully to understand the goals, gaps and concerns each student has, and then work with them to reach their targets. I want students to achieve their potential in terms of exam results, but I also want them to feel more confident, and in control of their own learning.

I focus mostly on GCSE and IGCSE English Lit, Lang and History (AQA, Edexcel, OCR, CIE), but also have some A Level availability (AQA and Edexcel). In addition to teaching I have also worked as an exam marker, which means that I can offer students clear strategies for honing their exam technique.

Whilst not an SEN specialist, I am experienced at working with students with a range of additional needs including anxiety, ASD, ADD and dyslexia, including several who were/are home tutored.

Availability: At the moment I have very limited availability.


I`m usually available from 4 -7pm Monday to Friday. I also have some afternoon slots for students who are being home educated.

Experience: I did my teacher training at Homerton College, Cambridge in 1998. I have been teaching English and History ever since, mostly with students in Key Stages 2-4, but also with A level and degree students and adult learners. I`ve worked in mainstream middle and secondary schools, in the education centre of an adolescent mental health unit and at at Cambridge Red Balloon, a learner centre for students who experienced severe bullying or other trauma.
