Information about Matthew
My name is Dr Matthew (MBBS, BSc), I am a young, friendly doctor from London with a passion for teaching. I have tutored medical students for nearly 5 years now, including those from St George`s Univeristy of London (SGUL), University College London (UCL), Imperial College London (ICL), and also students studying medicine outside the UK (e.g: Poland, Germany). I have many years of experience tutoring students, and I hope I can be the right tutor for you
Availability: Weekdays and weekends
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: I have over 5 years of experience tutoring groups of students in passing OSCEs (Clinical exams), OSPEs (Anatomy exams), the Written exams and the basic sciences up to A Level standard. My teaching sessions receive much positive feedback, consistently rated at 4.95/5 stars with comments such as "Very easy to understand and friendly. Very knowledgeable" and "I enjoyed the session :)"
I have also tutored students to help them pass the Prescribing exam, a national requirement to practice as a Doctor in the UK
I also have experience with large group teaching, I have given revision lectures to students at St George`s University of London (SGUL) to prepare them for their Clinical Neuroscience exams, and given Dermatology seminars to fellow doctors at St Helier`s Hospital, which were very well received
As someone who has gone through the medical application process, and has discussed at length with fellow interviewers, I am keenly aware of the criteria medical schools use to select applicants in both their interviews (MMI) and UCAS personal statements. I have previously tutored students in passing medical school interviews and writing personal statements, and all have received at least one offer from a medical school of their choice
I have a passion for teaching which I plan to pursue alongside my career as a doctor. I am a friendly, low stress tutor, and use a quiz and repetition based approach to ensure students not only learn their subject, but practice recalling it repeatedly so to never forget it under duress. My students have told me that this has been brilliantly useful in helping them combat exam nerves in high stress examinations such as the Clinical Exams (OSCEs).
A frequent comment I receive from my students is that I teach difficult concepts in a unique and easy to remember way, which reduces the amount of memorization involved in learning
