Information about Stefan

I am an experienced teacher with pupils of all ages and abilities and graduated from Birmingham Conservatoire with a BMus (Hons) in violin perfomance whilst studying under Diana Cummings FRSM, Simon Smith and Nic Fallowfield.

The violin has provided me now with twelve years of enjoyable music-making ranging from performing Bartoks violin duets at Bridgewater Hall with the current leader of the Halle orchestra to playing in masterclasses with Baroque specialists and renowned quartets.

I started studying at Birmingham Conservatoire with Nic Fallowfield and was awarded an entrance scholarship as well as being one of only five students to receive the Leverhulme Trust scholarship from my year group. Prior to this I had received an award from the John W R Taylor Memorial Trust Fund which is given to exceptional instrumental students from Staffordshire.

I am currently continuing to study privately with Diana Cummings (professor of violin at the Royal Academy of Music).

I am leader of the British Police Symphony Orchestra who perform regularly in the Midlands and annually at Symphony Hall. A recent performance was of Rimsky-Korsakov`s Scheherazade at Symphony Hall where I played the solo parts. I also play with several orchestras throughout the Midlands, such as the National Concert Orchestra.

I have also had the opportunity to perform internationally with ensembles in places such as India, Amsterdam and Austria.

Availability: Mainly during the day but with occasional space after school and evenings.

Willing to travel: Home Only

Experience: Before moving to Birmingham to study at the Conservatoire I had many regular violin, piano and theory pupils covering ages from 5-55. I have helped coach group sessions in violin teaching for schools as well as taking several string group sessions and quartet rehearsals for younger students.

I currently have a great mix of approximately 40 pupils of all ages and abilities. I worked for a music service where I taught in primary, secondary schools and colleges based in Cheshire and Staffordshire for three years before moving to Oxford, as well as my own private pupils.
