Information about Areesha
I am a third year medical student. At A level I achieved 3 A* in Chemistry, Biology and Maths and an A in EPQ. At GCSE, I achieved 9 grade 9s and 2 grade 8s. I was the recipient of the British Nutrition Foundations Drummond Education Award for the highest national performance in the AQA GCSE Food and Nutrition 2019 exam series. I received 2 offers to study medicine at the University of Sheffield and Manchester. My strong academic record motivates me to help younger students excel in their studies. In my year 13 Chemistry mock exams, I achieved the highest mark in the year group. My Chemistry teacher who has experience spanning over 20 years has personally advised me to begin formal tutoring in A-level Chemistry.
During A levels, I taught a GCSE student in Maths and Chemistry at Heckmondwike Grammar School as part of a peer mentoring scheme. I also taught a student in GCSE Maths at Moor End Academy for a period of 2.5 months prior to his exams. Despite the short time frame in which to boost his grade, the GCSE Maths student from Moor End was able to improve from a grade 6 to a grade 7 which I feel is testament to my strong teaching style. I have taught students ranging from KS2 to GCSE level with a local award-winning tuition company.
My A-Level Chemistry teacher has affirmed my aptitude to teach others and has recommended that I begin tutoring for A-level Chemistry, given that I am accustomed to teaching classmates who do not understand some of the harder concepts.
Throughout my study of A-Level Chemistry, I have acquired tricks to simplify complex topics ranging from deducing electronic configurations from the periodic table to drawing shapes of molecules. I have a strong grasp of Organic Chemistry and would be able to teach this to a beginner from scratch. As well as teaching the content from the specification, I am well-versed in answering exam questions succinctly and can hone a students ability to do so as well.
I am bilingual and can speak English and Urdu thus would be able to teach Urdu-speaking students who don`t have English as a first language.

Experience: I participated in a peer mentoring scheme in my sixth form and tutored a GCSE student in Chemistry and Maths. During lockdown in 2020, I continued our weekly sessions via Zoom. I have younger siblings and am accustomed to helping them with a variety of subjects. During Covid lockdown, I taught another GCSE student in Maths who improved from a grade 6 to a grade 7 within a 3 month time frame. Receiving positive feedback from students inspires me to continue teaching as I believe education is a powerful tool through which young people can change their future and make a valuable contribution to society.
I have worked with a tuition company focusing on delivering online and face-to-face sessions for students ranging from 8-16 years.
