One of my greatest passions is teaching. I am an enthusiastic learner of languages, and would love to aid others who perhaps struggle with language learning become confident in their ability to speak, read, write, and understand a foreign language. It is hugely rewarding to both the student and myself to watch how they accomplish challenges they had never thought possible (whether it be tricky grammar, being able to take for 3 minutes in another language, or to simply have the confidence to put their hand up in class). I love having opportunities to broaden students’ international outlook which is one of the many benefits of studying a foreign language, and seek to instil in my students a fascination with a language and culture entirely different from our own.

English literature has been a favourite subject of mine for many years, and I find much satisfaction in aiding others with coursework, and providing skills to write essays of the highest standard. I also am passionate about literature, and will enjoy discussing students’ books, poems and plays that they learn in school, to improve their conceptual understanding of their texts.

Organisation is also key to the way I work as a tutor. I keep a log on each student’s progress, plan my lessons in advance, and complete an evaluation after each session. Another important part of the tutoring process, is communication with parents. I will feedback regularly to parents, and answer any questions you may have for me.

Availability: I still have availability Monday - Saturday, and offer online tutoring as well as home visits (pending the removal of lockdown).

Experience: I have just finished my second year of sixth form at Redmaids High, where I studied French, Spanish and English and where I tutored a GCSE student for 2 years in French. Not only am I confident that she will attain the top grades, but we have created a solid friendship, due to our matching bubbly personalities.
My younger brother is 9, and I have been tutoring him in Spanish and French for a year. I have had to keep lessons diverse and fun to keep his active 9-year-old brain interested, which has given me the opportunity to get creative with my teaching. I use songs, rhymes and games to help him learn potentially difficult aspects of each language, which has been enormous fun for both tutor and student!

In the summer of 2019, I went to rural villages in Cambodia for three weeks and taught the children that attended the village schools. I had to constantly come up with new ways of teaching, as I was dealing with students ranging from 3 - 16.
