I am seasoned professional and have held various positions of responsibilities in schools and colleges.
As a qualified teacher I understand the needs of learners in being able to interpret sometimes complex information including graphs, and being able to use data to answer contextualised questions. My focus as a teacher is to improve the assessment objective skills required by learners in order to succeed. I have developed strategies to help learners become proficient in creating chains and evaluating at the highest level, which is the most important variable in achieving high grades in Economics.
I have created a youtube channel with Economics content called "Progress Us". This is for learners to recap the main points from core topics of the A Level Syllabus. The videos are 8-12 minutes long and more videos are being uploaded weekly.
I have been a guest on Educational TV programmes talking about student career paths beyond school and sixth forms and the importance of vocational courses in modern day society.
I currently am Deputy Head of Faculty teaching Economics in a mainstream sixth form college.
Availability: I currently tutor individuals and group sessions from home offering high quality tutoring using more than a decade of experience teaching A Level Economics.
I am available weekday evenings (6.00pm onwards) and all day on weekends. I can offer discounted rates for two hour sessions which are ideal for learning content with immediate practice of assessment objective skills.
Please get in touch to organise weekly sessions. I would seriously advise students to find regular tuition early on in the academic year, September onwards. Students normally want tuition a few months before exams and expect A grades with a few months of tuition. Be weary of educators promising A Grades with a few months work. Linear A Levels requires hard-work, determination and a continuous practice over a lengthy period of time. If your Economics is weak find support early on.
I can travel out to homes (additional cost) however, I prefer utilising resources in my home including a large whiteboard as a visual aid.
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: I have a PGCE (Secondary and Sixth Form) and am QTS qualified since July 2010. My passion is Economics which I myself studies at A Level and achieved an A in. I completed my Degree in Economics and Finance and worked in industry for a Year before qualifying as a teacher and gaining my QTS. I became head of department and taught the new linear A Level Economics individually. I have taught all three components of the OCR, AQA and Edexcel curriculum.
My Current role as Deputy Head of Faculty includes teaching all of the Economics both Micro and Macro.
My attainment for students within the institutions I have worked for have been 100% A-C grades and the expectations for my current cohort is the same. I have worked in schools and colleges where student profiles range from low ability, and high achievers and have always supported students in achieving their best grades with proven and consistent strategies.

Mr Darr is a brilliant tutor, he has increased my confidence and overall comprehension of the A-Level economics course. Each lesson consisted of a detailed explanation with precise powerpoint slides. I enjoyed every lesson due to Mr Darr`s enthusiastic and engaging approach. We were able to go through the specification of both micro and macro with clear understanding even though exams were very close. I am really glad I found Mr Darr as economics was my lease favourite subject. However, now it is one of my favourites! I truly am grateful!
I have gained a lot more stronger knowledge in a short amount of time after having lessons with this tutor,I was always getting U`s before but now I feel more confident with this subject and answering exam questions. He also gives a good strategy on how I can get the best grade I am able to get. Before having lessons with this tutor I wasn`t able to answer any exam questions confidently or gain a lot of marks. I find that when I lose motivation he does support and give advice. Also he marks and gives feedback on questions I have answered quite quickly which has helped me see my progress.
