Information about Mireia
Since I was young, I developed a passion for languages and had a natural vocation for teaching. For this reason, I decided to study English Language and Literature as my major and Spanish Language and Literature as my minor for my undergraduate degree. My aim when I started was to know more about languages as well as develop the necessary skills to become a teacher in the future. During this period, I was able to do some work experience (see section below), which helped me to apply what I was learning at university to real-life situations with real students and their needs.
In a more personal note, I define myself as a proactive person who has different interests, among which music, games and cinema are found. I try to include the background I have from my hobbies in my lessons to make them more dynamic (e.g. music for developing listening skills, games to reinforce grammar knowledge without the tediousness of just having grammar lessons, discussions about movies or series for strenghtening writing and speaking). I always received good feedback from students when these activities were done (and their results where very positive as well, so I am convinced they are efficent teaching techiniques!). Therefore, I kept doing it and I think it is a kind of "personal mark" in my teaching/tutoring style.
Availability: I have a wide availability (any day except Friday morning/afternoon, Saturday morning). My only requirement is to know the availability preferences of students in advance in order to arrange my studies around them.
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: Qualified Spanish and English teacher for non-native speakers.
While studying for my undergraduate degree (2016-2018), I worked as a freelance tutor offering lessons of English language to speakers of other languages. I gave individual lessons for students of different levels of English (from beginners to advanced) and different ages (from primary school children to adults).
Together with this, in 2017 I did an internship in Callan Valencia Academy, where I worked as a teacher assistant. Some of the activities I carried out are teaching support in the English lessons, preparing exams and activities for the students and helping marking the exams.
In 2019, I worked for Mundo Classes Academy as an English teacher. I gave English language lessons to children and adults that had different level of English (mainly ranging from beginners to intermediate-advanced) both in groups and in one-to-one sessions.
Between 2019 and 2020, during my postgraduate studies in the UK, I gave Spanish language lessons to adults with an intermediate level of Spanish (but I have available materials for different levels, again ranging from beginners to advanced).
I would be happy to tutor English language, English literature, Spanish language and Spanish literature.
