Information about Jesse

I am an experienced tutor in English Literature and Language. I have worked with a wide range of students: from age eight to eighteen, from those struggling to achieve passing grades to those striving to excel and achieve entrance to top universities.

I am friendly and sympathetic to difficulties in learning, and work to keep a good rapport with my pupils in order to get the best from them. I take an adaptive approach that caters to the individual student’s needs and interests. My aim is to build up their investment in their studies and provide them with a framework of skills that they can use throughout their academic career. I encourage students to ask as many questions as possible and to work towards active understanding through participation in discussion. One-on-one tuition provides a safe space for the student to learn and make mistakes without fear of embarrassment.

I graduated from Cambridge University with a BA in English Literature in 2014. I have a great deal of passion and enthusiasm for literature and theatre, between which I have always divided my time. In addition to tutoring, I currently study for an MFA in theatre directing at Birkbeck University. I have previously worked reading submissions at a major literary agency.

I am happy to tutor online via Skype at a reduced rate.
