Information about Sally

My name is Sally I am 31 years old and a qualified secondary teacher of English and Deputy Head of an English department. I am also CRB checked. My aim is to raise the confidence of each of my pupils and help them harness their true potential through fun, well-structured and personalised lessons. I am an approachable, enthusiastic and passionate tutor with a strong track record of success across many subjects and levels.

Willing to travel: 8 miles

Experience: Originally from Suffolk, I attended the University of Leicester and graduated with a 2:1 BA in English (dissertation classified as a first). I was then accepted on a graduate placement programme with a leading technical PR firm in London and worked my way up to a Senior Account Director of the world’s largest consumer PR Company. I decided that it was time to pass on the skills I had developed in the corporate environment and share my passion for the English language and vast array of literature I therefore retrained on the Suffolk and Norfolk Schools Direct Salaried Programme (SDS) and qualified as an English teacher in June 2015.

I am now based in Suffolk and working in a local secondary school.
I have nearly 2 years’ experience in total of one to one and classroom based teaching. My focus has been on English Language and Literature from KS3, GCSE to A level and I also have experience of teaching Media Studies. I am currently teaching and planning schemes of work for the new GCSE exam requirements. I also have some experience teaching English as a foreign language and have had previous private tutees that have all gone on to improve their grades and confidence in the subject.

Key to my approach is the idea that every pupil is different. Always referring closely to the relevant syllabus and mark schemes, I create a bespoke approach depending on the needs of the particular pupil. Patience is above all the most vital quality in a tutor and the ability to help students to find enjoyment within the subject matter and feel confident in their approach to English studies and exams.
Whether a student needs help with building confidence in the subject area or lessons to prepare for an exam, we can work together to achieve these goals and set realistic targets in a stimulating and encouraging environment.
