My teaching will always be adapted to suit the individual, as everyone learns in different ways. I believe that learning should be informative, creative, and fun. Drama/Theatre, English and having confidence in speaking, are inextricably linked. I apply methods from all these arenas to enhance the understanding of text, character, language, and society.
Using a combination of methods, including phonetics, encourages confidence in speaking, acting, performing, reading and writing. Therefore, this approach is also useful for those seeking to improve their skills in the English language as a whole.


I offer tutoring in:
Voice Coaching and Acting. Addressing good posture, alignment, good and effective use of the breath when speaking. Audibility. Vocal range. Articulation, producing clear speech. Working on text and characterisation.
Accent/Dialect coaching (including Accent Softening to enhance improvement of the pronunciation of spoken English)
Drama
Theatre Studies -theory and practice
English Literature and Language.
I have a particular interest in Shakespeare.

Availability: My availability is flexible.
I have a studio for private and small group tutoring.
I can also offer tutoring via Skype. Particularly useful for Accent and Dialect coaching and working on Accent softening.
If it is appropriate, I can offer a combination of person to person and online tutoring, as well as block tutoring. Especially if it is outside the mileage radius.

Experience: I am a professional Voice Coach, Acting Coach and actress, and have been working in this industry for a number of years. I am currently a voice tutor at Midlands Academy of Dance and Drama and have worked at The Urdang Academy. I am also a voice and text coach for theatre companies, and I coach accents to actors, as well as having experience of acting in theatre, film, voiceover and roleplay.
I have also written and performed my own work, and have successfully toured solo pieces based on Shakespeare`s female characters. I have directed a number of productions, and also adapted well known stories for the stage. I founded Sparx Theatre Company in Leighton Buzzard, a Special Needs company that encourages integration, and, although I am no longer involved, it is still running.

I have lectured at both University and FE Level, as well as tutoring privately. I have experience of working with Special Needs, people with Mental Health problems, and have also taught in challenging settings.
