I am a German specialist with a lifelong interest in German culture and language. I can cover all the topics taught by the main examination boards through GCSE up to A level. In my experience if there’s one area of German that students struggle with, from beginners to advanced learners, it’s grammar. If you find German grammar a bit of a mystery then I might just be the person to unravel it for you. I’m generally quite modest, but one skill I will admit to is that I’m really good at simplifying and explaining complicated stuff. A great skill to have as a teacher!

German has a reputation for being quite complicated. All languages have their peculiarities and differences. But not all of German is difficult – you don’t often hear people say this, but in some respects it’s easier than English. Don’t believe me? I can show you!

I can prescribe a programme of study for you if you like, but I’d rather tailor the tutorials to your individual needs. In most cases you will know the areas you need to concentrate on. The more you take charge of your learning the more time you will spend learning what’s right for you. I have lots of resources that I can tailor to your requirements and can work with any course book you may already be using.

If you want to know more about German culture that’s no problem. We can look at appropriate authentic literature too if you’re interested. The study of literature and film forms a major part of your A Level course. I’m happy to offer help with whichever books and films you are studying. I will mark and give feedback on whatever assignments you choose to write outside the tutorials – at no extra charge.
