Hello :)
My name is Sam and I am a secondary school teacher, Pastoral Lead and established tutor.
I have previously been employed as the Deputy Head of English as well as Whole School Literacy Coordinator. In addition to this I have been a GCSE examiner.
I am passionate about the success of others and enabling students to reach or exceed their full potential.
I pride myself on being an outstanding teacher and tutor, someone that students and parents find to be approachable, reliable, engaging, professional and kind.
Availability: I am available in the evenings to offer online tutoring. Let’s work together to find a suitable arrangement.

Experience: I hold a BA hons English Literature with Psychology and passed my QTS qualification in 2016 accredited as an Outstanding teacher where my career has grown from strength to strength.
I have been teaching both English Language and English Literature at GCSE and KS3 level for the past nine years as well as being an AQA GCSE English Literature examiner.
With regards to online tutoring, I have been providing this service since the beginning of the first national lockdown so am extremely familiar with the way in which the system works. Online sessions have been proven to be of the same (if not more) benefit to the students than face to face tutoring.
All students I have tutored have always continued their studies with me for the duration of time required with some students having been tutored by me for two years plus through their KS4 journey. Many of my tutees are friends or family of students I have previously tutored due to the high recommendations that I receive.

Samantha has been an absolutely fantastic tutor for us. She is highly knowledgeable and personable, and was an invaluable support. Samantha has been tutoring my daughter, Lucy, for her GCSE English Language and Literature over the last 12 months. Before Samantha started tutoring her, Lucy really struggled to grasp the best way to tackle the exam questions - she was particularly daunted by the longer questions. Samantha quickly built up a very strong rapport with my daughter - Lucy always looked forward to the sessions, which she found highly interesting and engaging. Samantha went very thoroughly through the subject giving Lucy a very deep understanding of the particular modules. This really helped Lucy in recalling key information in the exam. Samantha gave Lucy the right strategies to get the best marks, how to answer questions most effectively, and how to include the right information in the right way. These skills have translated into other essay writing subjects such as drama, where Lucy has used similar techniques to maximise her marks. Before we employed Samantha, Lucy was sure she would fail her GCSE English Language and Literature. However, having just finished her exams, Lucy is very confident she has passed with flying colours.

Samantha is a wonderful teacher. Extremely professional and very welcoming. My 13 year old son looks forward to his lessons with her. He doesn’t want to miss a lesson! I would highly recommend Samantha. She’s amazing!
