Information about Louise
I am a qualified Classics Teacher with a decade of experience teaching Latin, Greek and Classical Civilisation in leading independent schools in South London. Before embarking on my career in education I studied at Oxford, obtaining a BA (First Class) and MSt (Distinction). I decided to take a break from classroom teaching to return to university in 2024 and now tutor online alongside my own academic study.
Lessons are student-centred, with bespoke lesson activities carefully tailored to each learner`s needs. All lessons include detailed and supportive feedback so that students grow their confidence and develop as learners. I quickly identify and target any areas my students find more challenging so that they can maximise their potential. Most importantly, however, I love the ancient world and aim for all my students to come away from their lessons feeling the same way!
As a former Head of Department I have a proven track record of equipping students for success in GCSE, A Level and IB exams, with former students going on to study Classics at top universities, including Oxbridge. I was also an examiner for GCSE Latin for several years and so can offer detailed insight into the skills students need to succeed.

Availability: I have some weekly regular evening slots available on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from June 2026 as current students finish their exams.
During study leave and the summer holidays I have flexible daytime availability most days - do get in touch to discuss when would suit you.

My son was at the make or break stage before his Classics A Level exam. He had not covered the necessery course content and was panicing. Louise made all the difference, covering a lot in a short space of time. She was happy to work with my sons strengths and specific way of learning. Louise is an experianced tutor and this shows. The resources and links have been extremly useful. Louise has also looked out specific links for my son that were relevent to him. My son has developed confidence, improved his exam technique as well as covering the much needed content. We hightly recommend Louise as a tutor, my son has enjoyed and valued his lessons. Very helpful in making sure my daughter properly understood exam questions, with string GCSE follow through impact. Very thorough on working through practice exam questions. Patient and supportive. Well prepared and very good at explaining anything my daughter was struggling with. Strong recommend.
