Information about Imogen

Hi! I`m a final-year medical student at Green Templeton College, Oxford, and I`d love to be your tutor.

I have extensive experience tutoring in both a class setting and one-to-one environment (see below) and understand that all levels of student can benefit from private tutoring, whether to build up confidence or go through key syllabus points.

I took my final clinical medicine exams in February and will be starting my junior doctor job this July (which will have a focus on Medical Education!). During my time in Oxford, I also gained a Medical Sciences BA.

Having just come out the other side of full-time education, I understand how stressful exams can be for some students. I know how public examinations are marked, and how to revise effectively in order to get the best grade you are capable of - hopefully without too much stress.

Additionally, I`m happy to help with any university/medical school applications. From experience, going over practice questions and conducting mock interviews was especially helpful for boosting my confidence prior to application.

Please feel free to message me if any of this appeals to you, or if you have any questions!

Availability: Very flexible! I have to do a few more weeks of placement this spring/summer before I officially qualify, but I pretty much get to choose my own timetable now!

Please note that I am following adequate safety precautions at the hospital and staying off COVID wards, so this poses no extra risk to you or your family. I have also been triple vaccinated and had COVID myself this January!

Willing to travel: 5 miles

Experience: During my first year of university I completed a 6-week placement in China, teaching English at a foreign language summer camp. This was independently organised and involved planning for and teaching classes of 10-25 students with varying levels of English.

I have worked as a counsellor and neuroscience tutor for Oxford Royale Academy over the past 2 years. This involved teaching a 4 week course to classes of 16-18 year olds. The job also involved providing welfare and pastoral support for residential students aged 14-18.

I have also tutored local students at both GCSE and A-Level during my university vacations (both self-arranged and via various companies) alongside regular TEFL Skype tutoring for a 10-year-old student in Beijing. I`ve received very positive feedback and have built up an effective method for teaching new concepts.

During sixth-form, I took part in a voluntary tutorial scheme, teaching maths and science to students from my local state school.

More recently, I have worked as a clinical tutor for younger medical students at Green Templeton College and organised a series of teaching sessions across wide-ranging subjects. I have been lucky enough to have some fantastic teaching methods training from the university too.

I have a wide range of teaching experience across a number of years. This has made me a very confident, competent tutor and I would love the opportunity to further develop my skills.

Becky enjoyed her Chemistry classes with Imogen in the holidays, which helped her to understand certain points she was struggling with

Very happy to recommend Imogen. My daughter has had a couple of sessions with her and found them very useful. She particularly appreciated the planning work Imogen had done to prepare explanations and then work through questions to embed that learning.
