Information about Caroline
Full time private tutor in Science & A level Biology. Qualified Science teacher since 2007 with significant experience teaching Science to both children and adults in a variety of secondary schools and colleges. Demand for tuition has allowed me to pursue private tuition as my full time career a couple of years a go and I love it!
Availability: I teach from Monday to Friday with both daytime and evening slots. I teach a variety of one to one and one to two lessons, with a number of students sharing a lesson with a friend of a similar ability for a reduced fee.
First session is free.
Please get in touch to discuss a slot asap as my availability is limited and late in the school year, I often have a waiting list.
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: I completed a BSc (Hons) in Animal Physiology at Nottingham University in 2006 (2:1) and then went on to study PGCE in Secondary Science in 2007, specialising in Biology.
Throughout my teaching career I have successfully taught all three Sciences from Key stage 3 to A level, BTEC Applied Science Levels 2/3, BTEC Health and Social Care Level 2/3 and A level Biology. I have worked with students of a variety of needs, including SEN and/or Gifted. In addition to classroom teaching, I have also acted as programme manager and I have worked as an expert examiner for Edexcel for several years.
Since moving to Surrey in 2013, I have thoroughly enjoyed providing one to one Science tuition in the Godalming and Guildford area. In the last few years, I have been fortunate enough to leave my teaching post in order to become a full time private tutor and I am now offer tuition in KS3 Science, GCSE Core/Additional Science, GCSE Biology/Chemistry/Physics and AS/A level Biology.
As a private tutor I use a wide range of methods in my tuition in order to suit the particular students needs and learning styles including short interactive activities, mind mapping, in depth discussion and past exam questions. Sessions often focus on confidence building, exam technique, revision advice and the teaching and/or revision of weak areas. It is also common that I am required to fill in gaps in knowledge created by absence or difficult classroom situations, covering missing subject matter which has often gone unnoticed until it is identified in our tuition sessions.
I have a variety of interests so I can usually find common ground with students to help win over those that may be a little less keen to have a private tutor. I also am very sympathetic to nervous learners and have had a lot of success in the past in building confidence with these students in order to help them experience success.

Feedback For Caroline (11)
Caroline has been tutoring my 13 year old twins as they begin their Gcse courses. They really enjoy their lessons with her as she keeps them fun, laid back and interesting and they they are really thriving in their classes at school with the additional boost she gives them . They will be continuing with her all the way to the Gcse exams as they both have high ambitions and she is making a massive input into them achieving those. I can`t rate her highly enough
Caroline has been tutoring my son this year for his A Level Biology. He was really struggling after the first year and has found Caroline`s support and advice invaluable - I would highly recommend her, not just because of her professional knowledge but her friendliness and flexibility as well. Thanks Caroline!
Caroline was very organised and printed out all the questions and mark schemes that i needed each week so that I didn`t have to. This made it much easier for me to get through a lot of questions and answer them as if I was in an exam. She answered all my questions simply and clearly, often talking through and drawing ideas/concepts so that I could visualise them better.
Bubbly helpful and confidence inspiring- this was a trial lesson which went well
We could not wish for a more attentive and dedicated biology tutor
My son finds his sessions with Caroline very helpful and enjoyable (A level biology). He says that she is extremely knowledgeable and comes to class well prepared. He would highly recommend her. I have also found her very professional and organised.
Sessions going very well. Caroline is very professional and well able to challenge our daughters.
Caroline is a great tutor, she is very warm and friendly, and has excellent science knowledge. She always came prepared for my lessons, and gave me extra confidence in passing my biology exam. I would highly recommend her!
Thank you again Caroline! :)
Caroline is always on time and has prepared for the lesson which my daughter, Sophie, really enjoys. She prepares helpful hints for Sophie to look through and model answers for exams. She has helped Sophie with understanding key areas in Chemistry, Physics and Biology so that she feels increasingly more confident about her ability and the impending GCSE exams in the summer.
Caroline is an excellent tutor and I wouldn`t hesitate to recommend her. My son has really enjoyed her teaching.
Caroline has been fantastic in helping my daughter consolidate her Biology Alevel work, and boosting her confidence in the subject.
