Information about Jeff
My name is Jeff and I am a qualified Specialist Biomedical Scientist with a genuine passion for teaching. I am an experienced tutor in Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology at KS3 level, GCSE and A level; Haematology, Clinical biochemistry, Blood transfusion, Immunology and Molecular Medicine at University level. Also, I teach Dutch and keyboard to other students.
I have both the academic background and experience to offer tailored, interactive and structured lessons to suit my students needs. With an approachable manner and the ability to create a relaxed and engaging learning environment, I can help students achieve their potential and boost their knowledge and confidence for upcoming important exams.
I offer one to one tuition as a means of instilling confidence and security for my students own academic self-confidence. Through my lessons, I aim to nurture each students confidence in their own abilities, regardless of their achievements of their peers. This allows him or her to work purely for themselves rather than in competition with others as is all too often encouraged in the classroom. I tailor the lessons to the specific needs of the student.
I arrange an initial meeting to discuss which topics and areas my student is struggling in and then spend time focusing on their weaknesses by discussion, evaluation and practise whilst getting a feel for their learning style. I then pre-plan my lessons to cover these topics in turn and through the use of tailor-made resources to ensure they are interactive and encourage active learning.
At the beginning and end of each lesson, I use practice questions to gauge understanding of the topic and monitor progress. I review progress with students and parents and give advice on practical strategies to support learners at home. I do my best to create a learning environment where students feel comfortable and keen to interact and ask questions.
If you are looking for a passionate tutor, then please dont hesitate to get in touch and feel free to send me any questions. I am available to tutor most evenings after 5pm, as well as some mornings and afternoons in the weekends. I am a non-smoker and have an enhanced DBS certificate.
