Matthew

Chetham’s School of Music alumnus Matthew McLachlan was awarded the C. Bechstein scholarship to continue his studies at the Royal College of Music with professor Dina Parakhina. Recipient of numerous awards, Matthew has performed as concerto soloist and recitalist in Poland, Serbia, Italy, Lanzarote and throughout the UK. In July of 2021 Matthew was awarded 1st prize in the Royal College of Music Chappell Medal piano competition and the Esther Fisher prize for best undergraduate performance.

Availability: I currently have space for both online and in-person lessons for new students of any age and standard. I generally encourage either two half-hour lessons or one full hour lesson per week as standard.

Experience: I moved to London in 2019 because the Royal College of Music gave me a full scholarship to study with them! Here are some of my credentials:
- grade 8 piano before the age of 11.
- ATCL + LTCL + FTCL recital diplomas (Trinity College London) before the age of 18.
- full scholarship to study at the Royal College of Music.
- over a decade of performance experience.
- member of the European Piano Teachers’ Association.
- outreach piano tutor for children with complex learning disabilities.
- practice supervisor for children.
- 3 years private teaching experience.
