Information about Davina
I am friendly, patient and kind tutor. I have been a Business Analyst for nearly 4 years across various industries including Banking, Government and Media. My first love has always been to teach and encourage young people to achieve their best and excel in whatever they put their mind to.
I teach students up to A-level in English, Maths, Economics and Psychology, with the capacity to help in other subjects up to GCSE level if required. I have a degree in Economics and studied Economics, Maths, Psychology, Media and Critical Thinking at A-level. I have a strong passion for English, particularly English literature. I`m interested in career coaching and personal development.
When not working, I enjoy spending time with my own family being an Aunty of 7 children, working out, reading and socialising with friends.
Availability: Mon-Fri: 6PM onwards
Saturday: All day
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: I like to bring a personalised approach to working with children, as I believe each child has their own learning style. Firstly, I like to start each journey with a consultation where we can discuss and identify their needs and goals and frequently check in against those goals as we navigate through this journey.
I have experience with Barclays teaching children money skills and tutoring kids across Colchester, Essex. I enjoy tutoring and ensure my lessons are engaging and fun, in order to encourage children perform at their best and make the most of each session.
For four years, I worked at local libraries across Southwark borough where I gave IT tutorials for beginner, which usually attracted a mature audience. The tuition ranged from the very basic (how to use a mouse and navigate across a computer) to more complexed (sending e-mails and ordering online). This required patience and taught me the importance of clarity and a slow pace when consolidating basic learning. Whilst working at the library, I also ran baby clubs and participated in the Summer Book Challenges for kids which was to encourage children to read more. This experience definitely allowed to me understand various age groups and the nuances in what keeps them engaged.
