Information about Sophie

I`m an Oxford graduate and experienced tutor, having spent two years as a teaching assistant in secondary school maths and science lessons, and two years tutoring as a freelancer. Having just graduated with distinction from my MSc at Imperial, I`m now a full time freelance tutor and science communicator. I`ve always enjoyed providing one-on-one support to pupils who need it, and enjoy building up a rapport with them. I also develop my teaching methods alongside each individual to reflect their personal needs. In my free time, I perform improvised comedy, so I know how to react to challenges as they present themselves!

Experience: FEEDBACK

Sophie helped me massively in my GCSEs with not only physics, maths, chemistry and biology but also with my organisation and motivation. My grades improves hugely from the beginning of the year. She came up with creative methods to help me learn which meant I genuinely looked for to sessions and enjoyed learning the material. I couldn’t have asked for a more genuine and perfect tutor. Thank you Sophie! - Zara (student)

Sophie has an in-depth knowledge of her subjects, but her real value to us was the way in which she explained concepts, engaged with Zara to make them interesting, memorable and applicable and then summarised the content with her for revision purposes in a way which really helped Zara to retain the necessary detail. This was then backed up with solid question practice. These organisation and revision techniques are skills that Zara will take with her to A level stage. Zara looked for to the sessions as Sophie was patient, motivating, dedicated and really cared about how Zara was progressing. I could not recommend her more highly. - Ruth (parent)

‘Sophie is an exceptional teacher who can relate well to a wide range of students. Her dedication, work ethic and sheer passion for the students she works with are outstanding. Anyone would be fortunate to work with Sophie. I have no reservations in her ability or commitment.’ - Rebecca, Head of Science at Penwortham Girls’ High School

5/5 Rating

Sophie has been helping our son with his biology A level for a few weeks. She is very patient, punctual and well organised. Although we are waiting for our son first test results to come up soon and we don`t know if he has gain any improvements with his grades; we for sure know that he is happy and more confident with Sophie`s help. She seams very knowledgeable of her subject.
