Information about Harvey

I am a second-year medical student at Imperial College London, having obtained a distinction* in the first-year exams. I got 4 A*s at A-level (in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics) and completed an extended project qualification (EPQ) in my first year of sixth form. I achieved 11A*s and 1A at GCSE, including French, which I continue at University parallel to my medical degree: I received a distinction for my level A2 (CEFRL) French course at Imperial College last year and have just completed level B1 this year.

Experience: I have previous tutoring experience through Delta Academy Trust where I taught GCSE Maths students whilst I was an A-level student. All the students I helped to teach achieved their target grade and it was lovely seeing how pleased they were on their results day.
Teaching is an integral part of any medical degree; all medical practitioners and students are simultaneously learning and teaching. I have experience teaching peers and younger medical students in the year below and have found peer-to-peer teaching not only satisfying, but a great way to consolidate my own knowledge and understanding.
As an extracurricular activity at University in my first-year, I taught primary school children basic concepts about healthy living and the body in a fun and interactive way through Teddy Bear Hospital. It was enjoyable exploring different techniques for conveying the message, which ranged from mock emergency situations to assigning foods on the healthy diet plate.
I have thoroughly enjoyed teaching all these different age groups, and the enriching experiences have endowed me with the ability to tailor the method of teaching to the target audience. I intend to personalise teaching for you and focus on the topics which you struggle with most and would like the most guidance on.

For French, I would like to prioritise grammar rules and the formation and usage of different tenses, rather than vocabulary, since vocabulary is something with is naturally assimilated through exposure to the language. I would provide relevant worksheets after some lessons which I`d mark before the next lesson and go through at the beginning of the next lesson to consolidate the subject.

For Maths and Science, I`d focus on the particular topics which you find difficult. It would be helpful if you could give me a vague idea of which topics you would like to focus on before the lesson so I can collate some resources.
