Information about Karen
I am qualified primary school teacher and have taught across the primary school age range, with particular experience of Years 5 and 6. I am currently undertaking Year 5 and 6 maths and literacy booster sessions in a number of schools. I am an experienced tutor. I am able to offer SAT practice in mathematics or literacy and/or general support and help in specific areas where a child may be struggling.I have had extensive opportunities to work with children from differing backgrounds and with different needs and abilities. I strongly believe in encouragement and confidence building whilst working at a child`s own pace to enable them to progress in their learning. I am happy to tutor on-line or face-to-face.

Experience: I am currently employed in schools running group sessions for both literacy and mathematics. I have worked in schools for more than ten years. I gained my BA (Hons) with Qualified Teacher Status in 2007.

Karen has worked weekly with our 8-year old daughter for over 5 months on maths. She started when our daughter was in Y3 and had very little confidence in her maths abilities and skills. Now in Y4, and thanks to Karen`s enthusiastic work, our daughter has gained back her confidence and even talks excitedly about maths, which she didn`t do last year. We believe the stress of the various tests and assessments in Y2 caused her to lose her self-confidence and “love” for maths, which she had always liked since starting school. Karen is good at keeping our daughter focused and explains, in simple terms, any concepts or methods which our daughter finds difficult. Karen is always on time and makes good use of the hour-long lesson each week.

Son of 11yrs says 5 stars! We agree! Karen is warm, kind and considers child`s learning needs. He has grown in confidence and ability with his Maths & English. he is feeling better prepared for his SATS later this month. Thank You Karen :)
