Information about Joshua
I am a Modern Languages graduate from the University of Exeter, a Top 10 UK University and World 100 Institution. I am a bilingual French speaker and am proficient in German and Spanish.
I have returned to Oxford to complete my postgraduate studies, having spent the previous 5 years in industy - trusted to helm the European Sales & Marketing for some of the world`s most prestigious hotels spanning multiple continents.
My passion for languages and the opportunities they unlock is evident. I want to inspire my students to learn language through experience, role-playing in situations away from the textbook that will be transferrable to the discussed future motives of the student.
A tailor-made approach completely, I understand the importance of
Availability: As a postgraduate student, I can certainly be flexible with timings across the week and into the weekend, whether tutoring during after-school hours, in the early morning, or evening into the evening hours.
Willing to travel: 20 miles
Experience: In 2013, I was handpicked to teach at China`s most prestigious higher education institution, Tsinghua University in Beijing. There I lead language classes to over 50 students, teaching English language through cultural exchange, working with students to asses their needs and produce appropraite roadmaps to fluency.
Furthermore, I was employed by the British Council and the French Education Ministry, to work as an English Language teacher in Paris. Over a year I taught English at two secondary schools which were considered some of the most difficult in France. I was successful in communicating effectively with my students and finding the best way to engage and develop their language capabilities.
During my undergraduate, I tutored a 13-year old boy in both French and German, as he prepared ofr his GCSE exams (which he was taking early). Through a combination of Reading, Writing, Listening and importantly Speaking excercises, I greatly encouraged confidence in the student, who went on to achieve an A* grade in the Summer.
