I offer online tutorials using Google Meet, Microsoft Teams or Zoom. I use an online collaborative whiteboard, Miro..With this, we can simultaneously write and solve equations using a stylus and discuss the ideas and problems.

I place a strong emphasis on independent student work: if a student can do the question or has a good chance of doing it, I always encourage them to do so. If the concept is new or I think they might be missing a trick, I am confident in my ability to communicate any idea in GCSE or A-level maths, further maths or physics, with care, patience, and accuracy. I am also very keen on students` self-checking, whether this be by substituting a potential solution back into an equation, plotting a graph using Desmos or a graphical calculator. While I will quietly check the answer in the background, with a bit of practice, a student can often answer the question `Is this right?` themselves. I aim to ensure the student experiences success in the tutorial from the first session, fostering a mutual trust. I can usually incorporate a student`s interests into my questions. If you`d like, you could let me know some of their hobbies or interests, whether academic or non-academic, before our first lesson.

Strong 1st in Theoretical Physics from Imperial College London, PGCE in Secondary Mathematics with Distinction from the University of Bristol, a valid enhanced DBS certificate, and A*A*A*A*a at A-level, over 10 years of experience teaching in schools and tutoring one-to-one on all UK exam boards: AQA, Edexcel, OCR-A, OCR-B and WJEC.

Experience: I have tutoring and teaching experience from GCSE to degree level in maths, further maths and physics, both one-one and to small groups with more limited experience tutoring larger groups.

Many students struggle with physics and mathematics having wrote learnt techniques or formulae without understanding what they are using. Understanding the underlying principles behind useful formulae: reduces the need for memorising, allows for more competent use and more general application. Not only that but, naturally it is a more enjoyable and rewarding way to learn. Tutoring offers the opportunity for students to ask questions where they might not have had the opportunity in class and can get answers as part of a discussion.
