Information about Amelia
Qualified school teacher offering Physics and Maths tuition up to GCSE.
I`ve been working as a full-time school Science Teacher (with a specialism in Physics) since 2010, and I`ve worked in a range of private and state schools in London. I`ve worked at the following schools:
- Waingels College, Berkshire
- Francis Holland School, Sloane Square
- Duff Miller Sixth Form College
- Highgate Wood School, Crouch End
- Fortismere School, Muswell Hill
- North Bridge House Senior, Hampstead
I currently work full-time as a Secondary School Science and Maths Teacher at a private SEN school in South London.
Students often fall into the trap of writing out or reading through their notes as a method of revising, rather than attempting questions to see whether they are able to apply their understanding. I don`t believe that this is the best method when it comes to learning and revising Science and Maths. I therefore focus on exam technique and terminology when tutoring and I make sure we complete lots of practice questions, as well as going through the theory and methodology for each topic.
I am a patient and approachable tutor, and am keen to work with pupils to improve their confidence. I always encourage pupils to ask as many questions as possible, even if they think that it might be a silly question there is no such thing - If in doubt always ask is my moto!
- Evenings and weekends during term-time
- Daytime, evenings and weekends during school holidays
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: I have been doing private tutoring since I started teaching in 2010.
My specialism is GCSE Physics. I`ve taught the following syllabuses in schools:
- New AQA GCSE 9-1
- Edexcel GCSE and IGCSE
- Cambridge IGCSE
- Cambridge OCR A-level
I also have plenty of experience tutoring Maths from year 5 up to GCSE.
I have an up-to-date DBS certificate which is registered with the DBS update service.

A splendid tutor, she is very punctual and professional. She has helped my daughter in not just GCSE physics, GCSE maths too. Amelia is always open to helping her tutees outside of lesson, she makes her lessons very enjoyable. In a short amount of time my daughter was able to achieve amazing grades with the excellent tutoring Amelia has provided her.
In the relatively short time Amelia has been helping my daughter with Physics GCSE, Amelia has made an enormous difference :- both in preparing for the GCSE exam and in fostering in my daughter a real interest in the subject.
Amelia is a very professional and efficient tutor. I would be happy to recommend her.

Amelia came and helped my son with AS physics revision at short notice in the holiday period. She was a great teacher: clear, patient and organized and she offered some excellent resources in the form of revision notes and practice material.
She is very good, and is a very nice person. She is always on time and i cannot wait for her to come back so she can continue teaching my children, as she is very talented in her subjects.
