Information about Amelia

I do Maths tuition from KS2 (Year 4) up to GCSE level. I also tutor Physics at KS3 and GCSE level.

I`ve been working as a qualified full-time secondary school teacher (with a specialism in Maths and Physics) for the past 12 years, and I`ve been tutoring on a part-time basis since I started teaching.

I`ve worked in a range of private and state schools in and around London, including the following schools:
- Waingels College, Berkshire
- Francis Holland School, Sloane Square
- Highgate Wood School, Crouch End
- Fortismere School, Muswell Hill
- North Bridge House Senior, Hampstead
- Fairley House School, Pimlico
- St Anthony`s School for Boys, Hampstead

Students often fall into the trap of writing out or reading through their notes as a method of revising, rather than attempting questions to see whether they are able to apply their understanding. I don`t believe that this is the best method. I therefore make sure we complete lots of practice questions when tutoring, as well as going through the theory and methodology for each topic.

I enjoy working with pupils to improve their confidence, and I always encourage pupils to ask as many questions as possible, even if they think that it might be a silly question – there is no such thing - ‘If in doubt always ask’ is my moto!

I have an up-to-date DBS certificate which is registered with the DBS update service.

We would 100% recommend Amelia as a tutor. She helped our GCSE aged daughter enormously in maths, so much so that she attained a 6 when she had been predicted a 5 so we are all delighted. Thank you Amelia!

Amelia is a fantastic tutor. She has engaged both my children (aged 14 and 8) extremely well. They both say she explains maths really clearly and both enjoy their lessons with her. She is a real find!

A splendid tutor, she is very punctual and professional. She has helped my daughter in not just GCSE physics, GCSE maths too. Amelia is always open to helping her tutees outside of lesson, she makes her lessons very enjoyable. In a short amount of time my daughter was able to achieve amazing grades with the excellent tutoring Amelia has provided her.
