Information about Anji
I have been teaching English Literature and Language in mainstream UK secondary schools for the past fourteen years, developing my practice through regular CPD in addition to completing safeguarding courses. I enjoy adapting my resources to ensure lessons are engaging and create curiosity about language. My approach is to fill gaps in learning and to utilise discussion to establish clear and organised ideas, before approaching questions. I`ve enjoyed teaching a broad spectrum of abilities within diverse communities and the most pleasing aspect of my work is seeing a student progress each lesson, with improved understanding and practice.
In addition to school teaching, I am an experienced tutor, having worked independently with students with a range of needs.
Availability: I am available for online and in-person sessions from 4pm weekdays (subject to change) and can offer weekend tuition.
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: I`ve worked in UK secondary schools teaching English and have also taught drama over my fourteen year career. I`ve also tutored for eight years, working on a one-to-one basis with varying abilities to help students achieve their full potential. On average, tutees using my service have made two grades of progress, most of whom achieved A grades in their literature and language exams. I ensure that resources are differentiated to maximise engagement as well as using texts that resonate with students based on their personal interests. Assessment criteria is embedded into most lessons to enable students to familiarise themselves with key terminology used by examiners as they progress towards school based assessments.
